Building Human Towers, Crafting Wine & Living Catalan Traditions...

Welcome to a Vibrant 8-Day, 7-Night Journey Through Catalonia's Heart

This is not your typical vacation—this is immersion. Our week begins along the stunning Costa Dorada at Hotel Núria, a family-run coastal gem in Tarragona. Set in the peaceful Playa Arrabassada neighborhood, this boutique hotel offers clean, minimalist design with private balconies where the Mediterranean sea breeze becomes our evening lullaby. Just steps from Arrabassada Beach and a pleasant 15-20 minute walk to Tarragona's historic Roman center, it's the perfect retreat after days filled with authentic Catalan experiences.

What truly sets Hotel Núria apart is its people - from the moment we arrive, we're welcomed with genuine warmth that makes us feel less like guests and more like family returning to the Mediterranean. The pool area serves Mediterranean cocktails under the Catalonian sun, while the lobby's surprising collection of vintage Le Mans racing cars tells the story of the family's passion and heritage.

Beyond the coast, venture into Catalonia's wine country, medieval villages, and working family farms where locals open their doors—and their hearts—to share centuries-old traditions. From harvesting grapes and stomping them barefoot to building human towers and cooking with local families, every moment connects us to the authentic soul of Catalonia.

Immersive Adventures!

Get ready to become part of Catalonia's living traditions. In Valls, the birthplace of the famous castells, we'll learn to build human towers with the Colla Velha - these breathtaking structures of people climbing atop each other reach several stories high, requiring strength, balance, teamwork, and trust. we'll feel the tension and emotion as the youngest climbers make their way to the top, and we'll experience the powerful behind-the-scenes rehearsals that make your heart race.

We'll journey to Vilabella, where Josep Mañé's family has lived for over 250 years in a village of just 700 inhabitants. At El Celler de l'Apotecari—a family cellar with roots dating back to 1776 - we'll harvest Moscatell grapes from their vineyards, then roll up your pants and stomp them barefoot in wooden vats (after a proper foot wash, of course!). The laughter and purple feet are unforgettable as we create Mistela, a sweet fortified wine that will age in the special CDV barrel for future groups to taste.

After our hard work, we'll elebrate with a traditional vermouth aperitif in the Apothecary's Garden, where Josep's ancestors once grew medicinal herbs. We'll learn to drink from a porró (the traditional Catalan wine pitcher) and enjoy a feast of fideuà (seafood noodles) with the family - a true Sunday lunch that embodies Catalan hospitality.

The Insider Experience

What sets this trip apart is the depth of connection. You'll meet Josep Mañé and his sister Marta, whose family has shaped Vilabella for over two centuries. At Marta's Bar del Mig in Santes Creus, cyclists and travelers make weekend pilgrimages just to taste her famous sandwiches made with warm bread from Les Pobles and local ingredients. We'll visit the homes and cellars of winemakers in Priorat who welcome us like family, and we'll cook traditional Catalan dishes with chef Bet Carbonell at her cozy restaurant Llèpol, where she once received fresh herbs from Josep's garden.

These aren't staged tourist moments - they're real, personal interactions with people who treat you like old friends. From learning about ancient Cistercian monasteries with people who feel the spirit of these places to experiencing the excitement of human tower rehearsals with local teams, we're not observing Catalan culture - we're living it in pure CDV style.

Hands-On Cooking Classes

Immerse yourself in Catalonia's culinary heritage with intimate cooking in Restaurant Llèpol. Chef Bet Carbonell welcomes us into her kitchen, which feels more like a friend's home than a restaurant. Together, we'll prepare Fricandó—a traditional veal stew slowly simmered in onion-tomato sofregit until rich and golden - along with cocas (Catalan flatbreads) and the famous picada, the paste of almonds, garlic, and parsley that gives Catalan stews their soul.

These aren't just cooking lessons - they're family-style gatherings filled with stories about where ingredients come from: veal from nearby farms, mushrooms from nearby forests, herbs from local gardens. Every dish connects us to the land and the people who still care about doing things the right way. By the end, we'll have learned not just recipes, but what it means to cook like a Catalan - with heart, humility, and joy.

True Farm-To-Table, Truly Local

We'll savor Catalonia's culinary soul in every bite. At Delta de l'Ebre, where the Ebro River meets the Mediterranean, we'll board a boat to visit working oyster farms. With multi-generational farmers, we'll "plant our own oysters" - creating a CDV oyster line that next year's groups will harvest and taste! After our "farming" work, enjoy a quality control tasting of giant ostrones and mussels paired with wine that's been aging underwater with the shellfish. And what better way to celebrate than with fresh paella made from the delta's rice fields and seafood?

We'll experience the vermouth tradition - the Catalan aperitif ritual enjoyed with local olives, cured meats, and cheeses. We'll learn to pour from the iconic porró, the glass wine pitcher that brings laughter to every table. We'll join authentic tapas crawls through Tarragona's historic streets, visiting bars where locals gather - no tourist traps, just genuine neighborhood spots serving tortilla, jamón, croquetas, and more.

In Priorat, one of Spain's most renowned wine regions, we'll go wine-crawling through the tiny town of Porrera. Here, winemakers keep their cellars in home garages and vineyards in backyards. We will divide into smaller groups and visit intimate family cellars, hearing their stories and tasting wines before switching to another. Then we will end with a wonderful lunch all together celebrating these small-production artisan wines that rarely leave the region.
